As a former shop steward and labor leader, Reggie is deeply committed to economic justice and has worked throughout his life to protect and expand workers’ rights. On the City Council, Reggie will fight to invest in working families, make the wealthy pay their fair share and ensure everyone is paid a living wage.

In the Assembly, Reggie has fought to create an economy that works for everyone, including the following:

  • 99% Lifetime Score from California Labor Federation

  • Voted to increase the state minimum wage to $15 per hour.

  • Championed the establishment of the state Earned Income Tax Credit to help support over 3 million of the state’s lowest-income families.

  • Co-authored legislation to create a system of overtime for agricultural workers.

  • Co-authored legislation to expand access to safe consumer loans up to $7500, helping communities of color and others with limited credit histories.

  • Co-authored legislation to expand broadband internet connectivity throughout the state.

  • Secured hundreds of millions in state support to expand access to in-home childcare and preschool for California’s working families.
