Reggie has always believed that reproductive healthcare decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not politicians. On the City Council, he will continue fighting to ensure that Planned Parenthood and other community health clinics have the funding they need to improve maternal health and expand access to life-saving care, including abortion — especially in communities of color.

 

In the Assembly, Reggie has been a consistent champion for reproductive justice and access to safe, legal abortion care, including:

• Earned a 100% lifetime score from Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California and was rated a “Reproductive Freedom Champion” for his A+ score from NARAL Pro-Choice California in 2022.

• Co-authored the 2022 constitutional amendment to protect abortion access and reproductive freedom in California.

• Supported legislation to protect people who travel to California seeking safe, legal abortion care that is criminalized in their home state.

• Supported a bill to successfully eliminate co-pays for abortion and abortion-related services regardless of a patient’s insurance type.

• Supported legislation to enhance privacy protections for medical records related to abortion and pregnancy.
